Does your toilet end up flushing multiple times with a single flush? If so, it’s likely that the water level in your tank is too high. Try adjusting the float on the fill valve so that the water level is lowered by an inch or two.
Does your water tank start to fill on its own without you flushing it? Please do not be frightened – this creepy phenomenon is not caused by ghosts. Your toilet running on could be caused by a poorly fit flapper. When you have a worn flapper, water will slowly drain into the toilet bowl from the tank until the water level drops enough to turn on the fill valve.
Water Leaks at the Base of Toilet
Do you see water leaking around the base of your toilet when you flush it? This is likely caused by worn wax gasket that fits between the toilet and drain pipe. Changing a wax gasket is not an easy DIY project. Contact the experts at DS Plumbing to fix this.
Water Level Drops in Toilet Bowl
Does the water level in your toilet mysteriously drop a short time after it has stopped running? There are two possible reasons why this is happening. First, the toilet could be partially clogged, causing the water to be pulled from the bowl. Second – and this is a much more serious situation – there could be a crack or defect within the toilet, which means the toilet will need to be replaced. If you’ve determined that a clog is not the culprit, then contact DS Plumbing for our assistance in installing a new toilet.
