Community Involvement

Giving Back is Good Fun

Dave and Wendy Smythe and the entire team at DS Plumbing are passionate about being involved in the Ottawa community. While there are dozens of worthy causes in our area alone, there are 4 charities that are very close to our hearts:

You can keep up with the latest charity activities in the DS Plumbing Blog and on our Facebook page, but we’ve added some photos from some of the most memorable occasions to this page.

OHS Wiggle Waggle Walkathon

We participate in the Ottawa Humane Society Wiggle Waggle Walkathon almost every year. In the past, we’ve even been on site in our event tent showing our ongoing support to the less fortunate animals of Ottawa. This gallery captures some of the fun we’ve had attending in past years:

Ryan’s Well

World Plumbing Day Share-a-Thon donation resultsAs plumbers, we know how important clean drinking water and proper sanitation are to our health. That’s why we help out Ryan’s Well Foundation whenever we can. They raise money for wells and latrines in developing countries. You can find out some of the things we’ve been doing to help fundraise for them in our blog.

World Plumbing Day on March 11th

World Plumbing Day Logo

DS Plumbing loved to celebrate this important day.

World Plumbing Day was founded by the World Plumbing Council many years ago to highlight the essential role plumbers and plumbing systems play in world-wide health, and to bring awareness to the significant contributions the plumbing industry has made to water and energy conservation efforts.

Please take the time to appreciate your plumbing system! It may be a nuisance occasionally, but if we didn’t have plumbing we would still be living in the dark ages!

The Ottawa Pride Parade

Pride Parade

We’ve had a great time at the Ottawa Pride Parade over the years, attending either with a float or cheering in the crowd almost every year. The floats require a lot of time and creativity, so we don’t manage to do one every year.

Here is a shot of Craig, one of our plumbers, from our 2013 float. Check out this blog post to see the float we had in 2014.

November is Movember, Month of the Moustache!

Every November, the menfolk on our team grows their moustaches in honour of Movember! This month has been designated as mens health awareness month. We also donate a portion of all of our calls to Prostate Cancer Canada in this month.
